anime north 2009: saturday convention report

I ended up waking up at around 7AM and proceeded to get ready for the day. For the first half of the day, I cosplayed Trucy Wright from the Ace Attorney series. By around ten to ten, Ayu, Steph and I were ready to head downstairs. The original plan was to get some breakfast and then head straight to the Dealer's Room, and then split up for a while. The line to get into the dealer's room was so long that we just ended up going our separate ways as soon as we got there. Steph had lost her badge so she needed to get a new one and Ayu went with her. I walked around a bit until it was time for the Phoenix Wright/Apollo Justice shoot.

The shoot was a bit disorganized, but I was amused. There wasn't a single blue suit Phoenix or regular Edgeworth, but there were so many minor characters! The Olga's were adorable, and I loved the Angel Star and Lana. The most amusing part was when the young Edgeworth took out his criminal investigation kit and started drawing a chalk outline around the "dead" DeMasque. Haha.

After the shoot broke up, I headed towards the Dealer's Room to see if I could get those Tales of the Abyss figures one of the dealer's said he was going to have for that day. Unfortunately, he was sold out of them by the time I got there, and I felt discouraged to buy anything else from him as I figured I could get what I wanted much cheaper at Otakon. I finished my tour of the Dealer's Room/Artist Alley soon after. The only thing I ended up buying was a a pair of Kamina glasses I had my eyes on the day before. I was tempted to buy a pair of goggles too, but I knew I was never going to use them, so I decided against it.

I walked around a bit more before decided to take a quick breat at the hotel as my wig was falling appart in the wind and my feet were starting to hurt from my boots. There was supposed to be an impromptu Phoenix Wright panel at 1, and I wanted to go to it, so I went back down at around 12:50. I looked around the general area to find it, but I unfortunately couldn't, so I just walked around some more. I eventually ran into Katie and Dana who were on their way to eat, so I joined them.

We grabbed a bite to eat before heading back to the hotel to relax and munch on ice (as weird as that may sound). I also needed to change into my Sothe cosplay from Fire Emblem for the photoshoot at 3. Ayu was already in the room when I got there and Steph eventually came back to the hotel room as well. We were then off to the shoot!

We were kind of confused as to the location of the shoot, but we eventually found people. Everyone was so nice and I had a lot of fun. The Reyson, Leanne and Neasala made me especially happy. By a little after 4, the shoot broke up. Ayu ran off to try and find the TWEWY shoot as she was cosplaying Joshua, while Dana, Steph and I just stood around. We ran into Tamara and co a few minutes later. The group broke up, and I was with Dana and Katie. Luckily, we found Ayu pretty quickly. We all headed back to the hotel room to chill until supper.

At 5:45, we went down to the lobby where we met up with a group of people before heading off to Jackaster's fro supper. Dinner was fun, very good, and quite filling. We were a total of 25 people, but the service was surprisingly fast and extremely pleasant.

After dinner, we went back to our hotel to go swimming. Ayu and I were the only ones who ended up going, but it was quite relaxing. We went back to our hotel room after as I had nothing to do until 11. Ayu went to go meet up with some of her friends at the dance to kill some time.

I went down to go and see that 404s Late Show, but I only ended up staying for half of it. Partly because I didn't want to sit through the masquerade awards, and partially because it wasn't as enjoyable as I thought it'd be. It was formatted as a sort of contest, so a lot of the skits we aimed towards the yaoi fangirls, which got kind of old after a while.
