General Comments:
Loved Death Parade ( all the feels ;A; )and Nona had an appealing
character design for me. The sewing parts were pretty easy and simple, and the costume,
not including the wig, was one of the most comfortable costumes I've ever worn.
Costume Construction:
Shirt: The shirt was made out of a basic white popelin.
Pants: The pants are made out of a medium weight knit. The waist corset is made
out of some scrap suiting material and medium weight interfacing with a zipper at the
back. The front silver parts are made out of a heavy interfacing covered with a silver
fabric.
Accessories: The earrings were made using Model Magic, coated with a layer of gesso
and then painted. The bracelets were purchased on Taobao. In order to match the
earrings, the bracelets were coated in a layer of gesso and then painted with the same
gold paint.
The suspenders were puchased on AliExpress.
The bow was made out of some scrap medium weight matte satin and the broach was made out
of Sculpey.
Shoes: The shoes were purchased on AliExpress. The straps were then painted using
a purple leather paint.
Wig Styling:
The wig was a bit of an adventure. The wig base was a lace front wig
to get a more natural looking hairline. The front hairline was ventilated to make the
widdows peak and the "ear flaps". Additional wetfts were sewn around the edge of the wig
to create the updo. The hair was then pulled up into a ponytail and stubbed. A foam ball
was hollowed out and then wefts were added around it to create the ponytail. A ponytail
clip was added on top to create the bump, and the wig was then braided into a fishtail.
I'm not particularly happy with the wig. It ended up being way too top heavy so I had to
hold it up all day. It also ended up being a tangled mess by the end of the day. I'd have to
make it again if I ever wore it.
