I woke up at seven in the morning. I took a shower, ate breakfast and spent an hour re-ironing
my hakama pants before 8:30 when my friend was supposed to come over. Our plans quickly changed
and Hamano Ayumi came at nine something as did my other friend Natasmai. Instead of taking public
transit like we originally planned, Hamano Ayumi's mom was nice enough to drive us to the con.
Half way along, I realized that I was in such a rush to leave the house that I forgot to bring
my sword with me. I was very sad. T.T
Once we got there, we found the registration table and a nice lady told us to go to the right
side of the table. Never did she specify that there were three lines to our right that we were
supposed to line up into. We just figured that it was one line since there didn't really seem to
be actual lines or anything around us. The person at the table told us we were in the wrong line
and that it was organised by name. I figured, okay, so I glanced up and went to the A-G section
figuring that it was sorted by last name like most things were. Then that lady told me that I
was in the wrong line and I moved over to the next one mutturing a small "well sorry..." It was
stupid on my part, but that just ticked me off slightly.
She checkmarked my name and gave me my badge. I waited on the side for my two friends to
finish registration. When they came to meet me, I saw that one of them had a program and a
booklet. I asked where she got it and she told me it was on the table. I went back to pick one
up. I just wondered why I didn't see them when I was there. >.>
I wanted to drop my bag somewhere and they said on their forums that they were going to
have a bag check, so I went back over to the table again to ask where it was. They didn't know.
I think they thought that they forgot to include one, so they told us to come back in half an
hour.
Natasmai went to change into her Nanao costume, while Hamano Ayumi followed her. I was
already dressed in my Hinamori Momo costume, so I just waited in the hall. I took a couple of
pictures before they came back.
We weren't really sure where we were supposed to go, but we saw a line forming to go
upstairs, so we figured that was what we were supposed to do. We waited for about ten minutes
or so I guess before they started letting people up the elevators ten at a time.
When we got upstairs, it was busier than I thought it would be. Artists Alley was just to
our right, so we decided to browse around for a little while. After looking around the whole
Alley, we headed straight down the hall to the Dealers Area. There were only four or five
dealers, but it was quite crowded and hot. After quickly browsing through them all, I didn't
find anything of interest, so I stood on the side and waited for my friends to finish. While I
was waiting (or right after they came back), I saw this guy with a keyblade that was blue and
silver with the Fleur de Lis. I thought it was brilliant and just had to ask for a
picture. XD
By the time that they were done, we saw another line forming in front of the next escalator
and decided to join it to see what was upstairs. The line started moving almost right after we
entered it. When we got up to the next floor, I was complaining about my heavy bag that I
didn't want to carry with me, so we sat down at looked at a map and program. We found the bag
check and dropped our stuff off. While we were dropping our bags off, Natasmai found an Aizen
Sousuke (Bleach) cosplayer that she wanted to take a picture of. The Aizen, later known as
Lulu (I think, can't remember... >.<) said that he was about to start a panel, and that if we
came, she could take his picture at the end. With nothing better to do, we figured "why not?"
and went.
It turned out that it was a panel entitled "Cosplay 101". He and two other girls from this
cosplay group (ack, I can't remember the name of it >.>) talked about the basics of cosplay.
There wasn't anything that was discussed that I hadn't already heard of or known, but it was
very amusing and I thought it was a fun panel. We walked around a little bit before we decided
to go for lunch.
When we got back, we headed to the Cosplay Photography workshop. We stayed for a little
while and then I could tell my friends were bored and wanted to leave since I kinda dragged
them with me, so we left. Natasmai really wanted to play Go for some reason, so we went for a
little while. She played with Hamano Ayumi, but I really don't think either of them really
knew what they were doing.
Natasmai and Hamano Ayumi wanted to go the the Chinese Tea Ceremony panel, but that didn't
start for another 45 minutes or so. Natasmai and I kinda grumbled and agreed that we should
probably spend that time to study for our exams. I got distracted the whole time and only
managed to get though one chapter worth of history notes before I gave up and it was almost
time for the panel.
The tea was very good, but there didn't seem to be anything else going on during the panel
except for the small explination at the beginning so we left after a while since we didn't
see any point in staying.
Next, we dropped into the Matt Hill Q&A and Autographs session since Hamano Ayumi wanted to
find a friend. Natasmai and I figured we'd go see him tomorrow, so we left. The Melancholy of
Haruhi was playing and I really wanted Natasmai to see it, so we went in search for the right
video room. When we got there, I glanced at the screen and realized that it wasn't the right
anime. We exited the room and checked the program to make sure we'd gotten it right. When we
agreed that it was the right room, we went back in at sat down a little puzzled. Mai-Otome was
supposed to have been playing right before, but it was Kanon. We just sort of shrugged and
sat down, figuring there might have been a change in the program and that it was just ending.
When a new episode started (well past three might I add), we decided to get up and leave.
Natasmai wanted to go see what they were showing for "Otaku Anime", so we went up to the
fifth floor in search of the right video room. When we got to it, there was absolutely no one
there. Not even a sign to say it was cancelled or move or that they were having technical
difficulties. Just, nothing... She was a little peeved about it since they were showing
something in there next that she had really wanted to see. I was a little peeved about not
being able to sit down and find something decen to watch.
Disapointed, we went back downstairs where we met back up with Hamano Ayumi. We decided to
go down the the main floor just to sit for a little while when we saw Jiji. I din't think that
she'd come, but I was really happy to see her! What were the chances of us going downstairs
as soon as she was registering? ^^' We sat down and talked for a little before going back
upstairs to got to Anime Name that Tune.
They started a little late and had a few technical difficulties that I would have thought
they would have checked before starting, but oh well, whatever. It was definitely
amusing. Jiji was a participant in the second round and won first place and then Natasmai
won first place in the third round. I felt really stupid 'cause I only knew like...maybe five
or six of the songs that they used. Lol. But they actually used a PoT song, which amused me
greatly since there were only two people in the room who recognized it. XD
Jiji and her brother wanted to see the Dealers Area after the contest ended, so we did just
that. We went back to the main floor after and sat back down. Jiji and her brother had to
leave right after which was little disapointing since I haven't seen her in a while. The three
of us that were left sat around the bench deciding what we wanted to do tomorrow. When that
was done, we went back home since there wasn't really anything else that interested us.
Go onto sunday.
Go back to Otakuthon Home.
